Ruhenstroth

Ruhenstroth, is located in the SE corner of Carson Valley, just east of Hwy 395 as it begins to climb out of the valley going south. Named after the original ranch, it’s about a 3 square mile area, 5 miles south of Gardnerville and has the Gardnerville zip code of 89410. Elevation is around 4,800’ and Ruhenstroth backs to thousands of acres of BLM land and a couple of small County owned parcels.

[mappress mapid=”17″ alignment=”right” width=”40%” height=”450″]Around 1,300 hundred people make their homes in Ruhenstroth, in many cases because it is very suited to horse ownership, which is reflected in the names of the streets like: Mustang, Sorrel, Palomino, Colt and other horse-associated names.

With lot sizes starting at 1 acre, having a barn, stable or fenced exercise area, is possible and with easy access to BLM/public land, riders of all kinds have a wide range of possibilities for adventure.

About 70% of the homes appear to be built pre 2000, with many of those from the 70s and 80s. The oldest home is on Wiseman Lane and from 1910. With the remaining homes being since 2000, there is a wide variety of ranch style homes and more contemporary newer and custom homes.

There are many small, named subdivisions within Ruhenstroth, (like Ruhenstroth Ranchos) but the area does not have the typical subdivision appearance. Most homes are one-off, individually designed and built to the buyer’s/builder’s requirements, so there is something for everyone! There are no CCRs for about half of the homes and that will appeal to many potential buyers.

Ruhenstroth residents have easy access to the Medical facilities S. of Gardnerville, the Walmart and Supermarkets/shopping center at 395 and Waterloo Rd. and there is a Volunteer Fires Department in the Community.
